ClickMagick Review

Are you planning on getting ClickMagick? Are you looking for an advanced software to track all your links?

Read below for a full ClickMagick review to see if it’s for you or not!

Starts at 27$

A Click Tracker is a self-hosted software platform that lets you track the sources of your traffic. It confers you the possibility to generate a breakdown of your clicks and narrow down sections that generate positive ROI. It lets you eliminate undesired portions that don’t convert. While you go through testing phases, you gather data on all the elements that make up your campaign.

Getting subscribers and making sales is fantastic, but an understanding of how your traffic is responding to your offers is the best way to truly maximize your wealth and take your business to the next level.

Click tracking it’s beyond free analytical tools and allows you to precisely test price points, payment methods, sales copy, page design, and more.

Paradoxically, click tracking software is usually one of those things you don’t know you need until you start using it.

Picture throwing darts at a dartboard while wearing a blindfold; sure, you might hit some decent numbers, but you have no idea where to aim. That is what you are doing if you are testing without a Click Tracker.

What Is ClickMagick?

ClickMagick is a web-based app that helps you to track and improve your marketing work.

It lets you create tracking links, and ClickMagick informs you who clicked on your links and, which clicks led to sales.

Since it’s cloud-based, you can log into your ClickMagick Dashboard and monitor all the links you have entered into the system, but ClickMagick is also packed with some other advanced features.

If you are promoting any product or service online, then you should be tracking all of your marketing efforts (paid and organic).

There are several reasons for this, but here are the top three::

  1. To monitor all of your paid marketing work: This keeps you from getting scammed by bogus traffic vendors and wasting money on traffic that isn’t converting. Because not all traffic is quality traffic.
  2. To track all of your organic marketing: This includes blogging, youtube videos, Instagram, Facebook, and more.
  3. To maximize your ROI (return on investment): Many marketers, especially newbies, waste tons of money on marketing efforts that aren’t working. The reason for this is that they have no idea which traffic is converting into leads and sales. If you want to have success online, then you have to scale up what is working and drop what is not!

ClickMagick: The Good

Dynamic sub-ids

Let’s say I wanted to add my ClickFunnels affiliate link to my ClickFunnels review publication, on my suggested Marketing Tools page, and on one of my ClickFunnels lead magnets.

With sub-ids, I’m able to create a unique identifier for each source (i.e. review, marketing tools, cfleadmagnet), and employ them as a sub-id to identify every link click’s origin.

Since the ClickFunnels affiliate program supports sub-ids in its reports, I can observe which one is the link that led to a commission.

As with most link tracking solutions, you’d have to create multiple tracking links for each affiliate link and sub-id.

But with ClickMagick, you are able to create a single tracking link. You can dynamically append one or more sub-ids if you add them after backslashes like this.

If the associate program you’re linking allows sub-ids too, then you can pass it through like this. If the associate program you’re linking doesn’t let you use sub-ids, this is still a useful tool as you can see the sub-ids in your ClickMagick stats.

Tracking other people’s pages

Usually, when someone opts-in or buys something from your page, they’ll be taken to your “thanks” webpage. This webpage contains your conversion pixel, and once it fires, ClickMagick will know an accomplishing conversion occurred.

Pretty regular stuff, but what happens if you wanted to send someone to an external page instead?

Well, ClickMagick has a smart solution.

When someone signs up to your page or makes a purchase on it, they’ll be carried to a blank page with your conversion pixel.

Therefore, in the blink of an eye—and without the user even realizing—they’ll be redirected to the external page.

It’s a simple but effective solution.

Traffic quality measuring

Traffic quality is important. If you’re leading low-level traffic to your offers, you will know it about anytime.

ClickMagick shows you real insight into what kind of people are coming through your links, and how likely they are to buy.

The traffic quality score is computed based on a few factors. The main factor is the “tier”.

Tier 1 clicks should be what you are aiming for; it usually originates from either of the following nations:

  • United States
  • United Kingdom
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • New Zealand

ClickMagick suggests a score of 55 to be considered average, and 85 as pretty good.

This feature is helpful if you’re buying traffic, but it still offers plenty of utility for organic traffic as well.

Notifications go into your inbox and cellphone

Notifications are a recent feature to ClickMagick. It’s not one you’re going to get in other link tracking tools.

The first thing you’ll need to do is set up the notification settings by entering your email and cellphone digits. Then, you can enable notifications by clicking the cog icon close to each of your tracking links.

This works as a fast warning system for offers which are below your requirements, such as a page conversion below 1%.

You will need to set a trigger based on:

  • Action conversion frame
  • Engagement conversion
  • Sales conversion rate
  • Earnings per click
  • Average customer value

The sooner you know about underperformance, the sooner you can turn traffic away from that page and onto a better modification.

You can set it up to get notifications on links of better performers too, but that’s just showing off.

ClickMagick: The Bad

The platform is hard to learn

With more than 120 different functions and settings, ClickMagick’s feature list can be hard to assimilate.

The more functions you add, the more complicated it becomes to master—and that is the case with this platform.

You must know that when you have a tool as competent as this. You need to have the right expectations because it’s more methodical than other platforms.

However, there are tooltips for each of these fields which I found incredibly helpful—if not essential.

Issues with custom domains

Using your domain name in your tracking links is always a better option. Not just for brand notoriety, but also to avoid using the same link other people are using. A blacklisted link leads to poor results.

Well, if you got your domain set up with popular services, you should have no issues in setting that up through your dashboard’s DNS settings.

If you’ve given your domain to your hosting provider, you’ll need to go through your cPanel dashboard to make the changes.

The main issue is that not all hosts use cPanel, and if your host can’t make the changes for you, you won’t be able to use a custom domain without switching hosts.

It’s known that almost all popular hosting providers are willing to accommodate this request. As such, this applies to people who use more obscure, and perhaps more restrictive hosting companies.

Lack of live chat support

Live chat is the standard in online support nowadays.

The bad news is that ClickMagick doesn’t give this as a support alternative; it has preferred email as their support channel instead.

One of the significant drawbacks with that is that you need to wait before receiving assistance. Live chat is instantaneous; choosing email over it leaves customers with a subpar support method—especially if you have an emergency.

Maybe, the difference between instant messaging and email could be ignored, but there’s something about the live chat that makes it more direct and trustworthy.

It’s still worth noting that the email support is excellent. It’s as fast as it can be, given the industry standard, yet live chat is much more efficient in any case.

ClickMagick: The Features

Tracking link creation

Tracking links are essential when it comes to using ClickMagick.

The main goal of a tracking link is to check visitors who pass through it and collect other relevant info; said info includes where are they located, what browser are they using, which device, and more.

You are likely going to set this up for every new offer you create, as well as every new variation of the same offer.

You do it by clicking on the ‘Links’ menu item which will redirect you to your links page. There, you’ll be able to create your first offer. Then, whenever anyone goes through the link, ClickMagick will track them.

Sure, there’s nothing special about creating a simple tracking link, and you can find free alternatives that mostly do the same. However, we get to the ‘Advanced Settings’ and figure out the real power of this feature.

As you can see, there are many settings to get into. You can also bring up some extra settings panel by clicking the cog icon next to any existing link.

I will point out some few essential features:

  • Conversion Tracking: Using ClickMagick’s pixel builder, you are able to observe precisely how good your pages convert based on whether traffic reached the main page, such as a thank you page. This is useful for tracking all the sales funnels.
  • Pixel code: This option lets you add in your retargeting pixels, so you can redirect people even if the link leads to a page that you don’t own.
  • Split-testing: It’s possible to make A/B tests for your links thanks to ClickMagick. You are able to add multiple links, specify traffic distribution and allow winner alerts.
  • Passwords: Use passwords to protect pages via your tracking link. It will display a box that prevents the destination URL from displaying until the correct password is entered.

Organic tracking

Putting tracking links on web properties you own or control is one thing, but what about those places that are harder to reach?

Stuff like searching engine traffic, referral traffic, or direct traffic from people typing your URL in their browser. That’s when the organic tracker appears.

It works by inserting some piece of code on a page you want to track; this ClickMagick collect information on that traffic similarly.

The first thing you got to do is set up a new project in the ‘Organic’ menu item, and that’ll show you a tracking link.

There are many ways to install the tracking code, whether on WordPress, a page builder, or any other applications like LeadPages or Instapage. When installed, any visits to a page with that tracking code will be recorded.

Link rotation

A link rotator is one link that splits and sends traffic to different landing pages based on the setting you selected.

It’s alike to the way split-testing works. The exception is that you are not testing to see which landing page performs better.

This feature is something you’re likely to use as an ad seller, CPA marketing, for banner ads, solo ads, or even PPC ads.

The “Rotator Mode” permits you to choose how the traffic is distributed across your links, whether it is: order-by-order, randomly, or sequentially.

The advanced options also allows you to filter by criteria like country, device, and low-quality clicks.

Once you’ve created your rotator link, then you can begin adding destination links to it.

This is where you select how you want to distribute the traffi to specific landing pages, and ClickMagick gives you a ton of control here.

You can set individual rules for:

  • Traffic quality (tier).
  • Bonus clicks.
  • Mobile traffic.
  • Start/end dates.

People who work selling ad clicks will be familiar with these terms. It makes the job a lot easier and more efficient.

Content menu

The ‘Content’ menu item allows you to use several tools that work with a sole goal: add a promotional overlay on websites you don’t own.

Some services exist for these features alone, and they come with ClickMagick at no additional charge.

The first is called MagickPops; this adds a lightbox to the site.

It is used to insert email capture forms, thus letting you share useful content with your users while still capturing leads.

One complaint is about the editor, which is very limited for those who don’t know how to write HTML. Nevertheless, it also allows you to copy and paste the HTML for your email template, depending on your email service provider.

Next up is MagickBars, which is a tool that allows you to add a top or bottom overlay bar to the page.

Many of these settings are similar to the ones that feature MagickPops.

The difference is that you would typically use this feature to display information or banner ads.

Another feature that MagickBars brings to the table is the chance to add a countdown timer. You can use it for a running promotion or an upcoming webinar.

Timers are the final tool in the ‘Content’ menu. With them, you can create date-based timers, or modify the styling of the timer itself.

When created, you can embed them according to you your preferences, though ClickMagick recommends adding them to MagickBars.

Overall, I think these are functional tools to have in your arsenal, and they complement the core product well.

Reports

What we’ve shown throughout this entire review has been based on reporting. That’s what ClickMagick is: a reporting tool, but one thing I haven’t talked about is the limit of data you get with this platform and how it’s displayed.

Let’s paint it this way: all the data in the world is useless if you don’t know how to process it, and make modifications with it.

The primary reporting area you’ll see is in your first dashboard, which ClickMagick refers to as ‘Stats At A Glance’.

These stats are a mixture of your tracking links, and they can be filtered with a custom data limit.

But for most users, the real data will come from the link creation parts. Here, you can see how each link is performing.

You can also click on the individual data points to get even further data on that specific record.

When you start mixing tracking links together concerning your sales funnel, you begin to collect significant data.

Looking at the reports, you can see where your funnel underperforms; this enables you to fix problems.

Similar stats are displayed for your organic and rotator links too, and you can find these on their respective parts.

Finally, you are able to export your tracked data using the ‘Tools’ menu.

Overall, ClickMagick offers you just about every data point you could need to maximize conversions.

Support and resources

Nowadays, with most tools, adequate documentation is a total must.

The first thing displayed when you first log into ClickMagick is the “getting started” video, which explains the first steps.

Also you can see how to access a library of other video tutorials on virtually every aspect of the tool itself.

Of course, it’s not all video-based. ClickMagick has made an hour’s length written on the principles of click tracking, and it shows pretty much everything you must know to get the most benefits from this platform. If you’re new to click tracking, it’s a must-read.

As I mentioned earlier, ClickMagick gives tooltips all the time.

This helps make the learning curve significantly more comfortable to overcome, so they made the right choice by adding these options.

But ClickMagick’s claim to fame isn’t because of their video tutorials; it’s due to their one-hour email support.

Whatever the hour, whatever the question, whatever the day, ClickMagick support is always on.

Maybe this isn’t necessarily better than those tech companies with 24/7 live chat support, but it still deserves the recognition.

Finally, there’s a Facebook group which has over 4k members, so it’s pretty active as far as software-based groups go. If you like the community aspect where you can trade advice and seek support from other users, this one is for you.

Overall, aside from the live chat, I don’t have anything negative to say about the documentation and support options available.

Pricing

ClickMagick offers three types of plans: the Starter, Standard and Pro Plans.

The Starter Plan is $17 per month. You can utilize all the core features and get up to 10,000 clicks a month. You’ll also be able to add two custom tracking domains.

The Standard Plan costs $47 a month, and your limit gets to 100,000 clicks per month. It allows you to get organic and funnel tracking for five websites, and ten custom tracking domains.

The Pro Plan costs $97 a month, and you get 1 million clicks per month and unlimited possibilities.

For most people, the Starter plan should be enough.

All plans include a 14-day free trial, letting you test out the service before you commit.

Summary: Pros & Cons

ClickMagick Pros

You have a large array of options regarding link set up. You can track both organic and paid traffic with ease as soon as you learn the functions of this platform.

The depth offered by the system’s reports is exceptional. You receive unparalleled insight into the traffic that passes through your website. Besides, you don’t receive general traffic details; you’re able to determine the real value of your visitors: who converts, who visits your site often, and similar aspects.

ClickMagick comes with many features that can be expensive if bought separate from other services. These features include many of the pillars of ClickMagick’s usefulness. Additionally, ClickMagick offers a variety of functions that are hard to find in just one place.

You can easily promote your business in websites you don’t own, and the platform a plethora of ways to do so.

The system is hard to learn, but the amount of resources and tutorials it offers makes this learning curve less noticeable. You can find everything: from newbie tips to advanced and intricate ways to exploit the many uses of ClickMagick.

ClickMagick Cons

Despite the resources available, ClickMagick is still hard to learn. You will need to spend a notorious amount of time going through the resources before you can master the system.

The custom domain issue can be frustrating for many. As said, custom domains are one of the pillars of a successful website. Having to give up your domain can feel like changing your business’ name.

HTML makes up an important part of this tool. It’s an issue since the language is old and considered outdated by many. It’s also unnecessarily complex—especially given the more modern options available.

Lastly, the lack of live chat is detrimental for anyone. The email support is exceptional, but it fades in comparison with live options.

ClickMagick vs Competitors

As you might expect, this system uses a redirect engine to capture information about traffic before sending it on its way.

Because of that, ClickMagick has several features that tend to hover on the grey and “black hat” end of the spectrum.

Things like link cloaking to hide affiliate links, link rotators to send an ad’s traffic to several destinations, and so on are all potentially tricky to use. They can be used properly and effectively, but some ad networks don’t dig this software.

Whatever being the case, ClickMagick may suit or not your expectations. Luckily, it’s not near the only link monitoring, visitor tracking, analytics suite available. Here are five more you can give a shot:

Voluum

Voluum is a lot like ClickMagick. It’s a cloud-based system for tracking all activity that passes through your links.

They have a group of templates for various styles of links, so you don’t have to fiddle with parameters and build links manually. As tracking ROI is an important part of what these apps do, this one supports many different cost models, including CPC and CPA.

You can manually update link prices if the traffic source doesn’t support it as well. The whole system is very fast; the redirections generally take less than a second, fast enough that even mobile users usually won’t even notice at all.

Voluum has a great API with many functions; you can  pull your data and process it locally, but they also do a lot of analytics on their end. They track and monitor data points that go from the OS, mobile carrier, and city-level geolocation of your visitors to their performance.

If the data points aren’t enough, you can set up to ten custom data points to track metrics you specifically need. Their reports are well done and show your data in format that’s easy to read.

Whereas ClickMagick permits some deep usage of cloaking and link rotators, Voluum is more limited. You can use a bit of split-testing, but it’s a lot more limited than the full-on rotation scripts ClickMagick has.

Meanwhile, Voluum has a free API for directing it via third party scripts and extensions. If there is something you want to do, you can always write a script to do it. They even have a ‘machine learning algorithm’ to help you optimize your ads automatically. Machine learning is still in its first steps, so to rely on it too much is tricky.

Concerning the available plans, the cheapest choice will cost you $99 each month. This gets you a million events; said “events” can be visits, clicks, or conversions. You only will get three tracking domains and a longer support SLA, and you only get six months of data retention.

Higher-level plans go for $400, $1,000, and custom-scaled costs by month. These, respectively, give you 10 million events, 30 million events, and as many events as you want.

ClickMeter

One of the strongest ClickMagick competitors, ClickMeter is the same kind of click-based link tracking. With this one, you are able to specifically target where incoming visitors end up if you wanted to separate traffic amongst various targeted landing sites.

You can track your clicks, views, and conversions, all with this sole application. You can check your clicks for damaged links, click fraud, high latency, and blacklists. And you can export data or reports for sending to clients, team members, and bosses as well.

ClickMeter is a tracking application aimed at tracking clicks in real-time. Whenever you want to post a link in an ad, on social media, in a guest post or other kind of inbound marketing, you can embed that link through ClickMeter first.

If you do that, it creates a tracking link for you. This link, mixed with the ClickMeter tracking code you install on your website, permits you to track traffic on an individual basis.

As you might expect, this system uses a redirecting engine to capture information about traffic before sending it on its way.

Elements like link cloaking to hide associate links, link rotators to send an ad’s traffic to many destinations, and so on are all potentially harmful to use.

Trck.me

Trck.me will hook you in with its thirty-day free trial with no credit card necessary to begin using it. As far as features concerns, you have the usual ones. You have a dashboard that’s simple to use and read.

You’ve got auto-tagging for your links; you don’t have to specify a referrer for your traffic, the app sends the info by its own. You can track social media links, too.

Trck.me has traffic alerts that will inform you when traffic you’re paying for has started to appear or once it has stopped. You get some advanced filters to let you analyze your traffic, and of course, they earn praise for their fast redirects.

They also have great support; there are live streams every weekday you can use to interact with and get help directly from the team.

This one is even cheaper than ClickMeter. Their basic plan is only $9 each month and offers you unlimited tracks, unlimited tracked hits, and control panel access of course.

However, It is pretty basic. They have a business plan for $49 each month that gives you custom tracking domains, affiliate tracking, and reports.

Both plans have the option to pay each year if you want; the $9 program is $90 for a year, saving you near $18. The $49 plan is $490, saving you almost $100. It can be helpful if, after their free trial, you decide you like them enough to keep using them.

Overall, this one is a good alternative if you want something cheaper or you want to test one out for free before you make your investment. It’s certainly a lot less expensive than Voluum, and others. The fact that they have no tracking limitations is impressive too.

LinkTrackr

It’s mainly a link tracking app that offers a bit of extra features. This one offers you link cloaking. Their cloaking renders the destination site inside a full-size iframe to hide the actual URL of the site; this a step further than its competitors.

You can choose to cover the iframe’s existence, with some ad networks and search engines. This feature helps you to avoid being tagged as spam.

Conversion tracking is par for the course, and all you need to do is installing a tracking pixel on your page. You can even use modern Postback tracking applied by some cutting-edge associate networks instead of URL parameters.

As expected, they also have the usual setup with URL rotating and split-testing. You can separate up traffic between URLs for split-testing the same page, or send traffic to a variety of different pages.

Unlike Trck.me, LinkTrackr has a thirty-day warranty. If it does not fulfil your requirements, you can get your money back. They are less expensive, at least, starting at the same $9 as the above option. For that price, you get 100 tracking links and a cap of 10,000 clicks per month. You get link cloaking and branded domains.

The $19 program gets you 500 links, 50,000 clicks, and the same features as the previous program. You also get conversion tracking, vital for most of you. Besides that, there is the $39 per month plan, which has 1,000 links and 100,000 clicks monthly and adds in split-testing as a feature. The top-tier program is $69 per month and gives you up to 5,000 links and 500,000 clicks.

Improvely

One of the most exciting features of Improvely is the customer profile system. The app can recognize people and show you useful data about them. This data includes how much they have visited your site, what their value to your brand has been, what their organic value is, and even their specific placement.

They have a 14-day free trial, and their starting cost is $29 monthly. For that, you can get 10,000 visitors each month, with conversions and revenue, fraud monitoring, split-testing, and some associate marketing tools.

You can add team members and improve your visits up to 50,000 for $79 per month. Double the visits and add in sub-accounts and you’ll end up paying $149 per month.

They have a top-tier plan with potentially unlimited tracked visits, unlimited team members, and white label reporting, all starting at $300 per month and scaling based on need.

Final Verdict

If you are into any kind of marketing on the web, then you need to invest in a good tracking program like ClickMagick. It is essential to know from where your clicks are coming, and which of them are getting sales.

When you’ve got this info, you will know what’s working for your business and what’s not, and then you can optimize your marketing efforts to make even more sales.

And as a cloud-based service, you can see all your link tracking stats from a single dashboard. This is great for someone who owns several pages.

Plus, there’s a whole bunch of useful features in ClickMagick I didn’t even know I needed previously, like bot click filtering and uptime monitoring.

It is worth using a couple of hours going through the tutorial videos to know which features you can use for your own business.

So if you want to optimize your marketing, give ClickMagick a try right now.
