Beginners should handpick a few simple keywords that you can rank in a short time or go for very competitive keywords that will take you forever. Fret not, however, as you can also be up there with the more prominent channels once you take time to nurture and grow your channel with patience.

What are the factors that contribute to a keyword’s ranking on both Google and YouTube? Below are some of the many factors that both YouTube and Google consider ranking videos in their search engines. Of course, the factors below aren’t complete because unless you work for any of them, you will never understand their special algorithm.

For Google, factors that affect the on-page video ranking include keywords in the title of your video, in your description, and your tags. In contrast, factors for Off Page Video Ranking include the relevant backlinks, which make up of quantity, quality, and anchor text optimization, and social indicators.

For YouTube, you get several more ranking factors than Google. This includes keywords in the title of your video in the description section, tags, and social indicators. On top of this, other factors include the click-through rate of suggested videos and search results, video views, likes and dislikes, number of subscribers, comments, embedded links, and channel authority. For video views, you will rank well if your viewers watch at least 60% of your videos.
For likes and dislikes, this indicator shows you how much people are enjoying your content, and the same goes for subscribers. All of these indicators help YouTube to measure your channel’s engagement with its users. The higher the meeting, the better the chances for your ranking. Nevertheless, there is no definite amount of views, subscribers, comments, or backlinks that you have to meet as it differs from every niche. Depending on your needs, the free program has limited functions but still great for beginners who want to analyze keywords but do not want to break the bank. However, once your channel grows to a specific size, or when you think you have the budget for the paid plan, it will be worth it upgrading to the paid plan to unlock more features that can help you target better. If you use YouTube as your primary marketing strategy, then it would also be advisable to take the paid plan.
Since it is an extension, all you need to do is sign up and install it on your browser. Then, you can just head on to Youtube.com as per usual and begin your keyword analysis! As long as your plugin is installed, you can conduct your research by just typing keywords into the YouTube search bar. As an example, let us use the phrase ‘how to remove blackheads fast.’ Your search results will appear on the right-hand corner, and you will learn your phrase’s search volume, competition, and an overall score out of 100.
On top of that, you also get a list of related searches. If the phrase’s competition is high, then Tube Buddy will suggest its overall score is pretty low, meaning it would be challenging to rank. However, if competition and search volumes are considerably low, your overall rating will be higher, which makes it easier to rank. While doing this, you should also note down all the more top-ranking or ‘green’ phrases that your Tube Buddy search results have revealed. Now that you have your targeted keyword list, its time for the next step.

Finally, in step 5, we can begin creating our unique and engaging video for our YouTube channel. Your videos should be both informative and entertaining to attract visitors and boost engagements with high click-through rates for your other sales funnels. Creating a video might sound daunting to some of you as you probably think you need to be a chatty extrovert and stand in front of the camera. But that’s not the case! It could easily be a slide show video with a voice over and still, get a lot of views.
Try doing a quick search on the current products on the market; most of them do not require any faces and still get the right amount of views. Also, you do not even need to use your own voice! Now, doesn’t that look way better? In meeting the criteria, you are also one step closer to creating your branded channel.

The next tip is to divide your videos into a different playlist. Basically, segment your videos so that your viewers can find what they are looking for easily. If they can’t find your videos, chances are they might be frustrated and head to another channel. Again using the ‘removing blackheads’ example, you can segment playlists into different categories like products, tools, and homemade remedies, etc.
Add a description for your channel
Adding a channel description is another right way to incorporate more keywords that you want to rank. You should keep this segment short. However, it should include a brief and straightforward introduction of your channel.
