Choosing the right one can be tricky, and it’s not something you want to take too lightly. All platforms have their own features and limitations, and choosing wrong could mean your webinars end up feeling boring or frustrating to host.

Fortunately, that’s my objective today: help you decide which one is the best of the two. We’ll review their features and pricing as well as compare their differences and similarities; you’ll be able to make up your mind once you’ve finished reading the last word in this article.

What is WebinarJam?

WebinarJam is a hosting service that lets you create and host your own live events as well as automated webinars. Genesis Digital—the same team behind Kartra—launched the platform back in 2013, and since its inception, it has gathered a huge community.

It’s hard to find someone dissatisfied, especially thanks to the sheer amount of features available through an interface that makes everything easy to grasp. You have basic features like polls and featuring attendees all the way to more specialized options like displaying offers during the event.

Since we’re already on the subject, let’s take a look at the features you get.


Webinar comes with an entire library filled with page templates. You don’t need any programming or design experience to create your own webinars in a few minutes.

The entire process is simple: find a template you like, customize it until it fits your brand, and launch the event. All templates have been created by experienced marketers, so they’re optimized to promote your business and branding.

Registration forms

WebinarJam also shines when customizing your registration forms. You can create your own fields to gather all the information you need from your attendees.

Once your registration form is ready, you’re free to embed it into your website. It’s a great way to leverage your site’s traffic without having to take it outside of your site.

However, keep in mind that this is only available for your registration forms. Your attendees still need to access the main WebinarJam platform to view your event.

YouTube streaming

If you have a YouTube channel, you can also broadcast your events to your YouTube audience—again, more traffic to leverage. You can gather leads from your YouTube subscribers without redirecting them.

There’s a few limitations to keep in mind, though. You won’t be able to use WebinarJam’s unique features like polls and its advanced live chat functionality. You also need to keep YouTube’s policies in mind.

However, this is still a great feature because of how it solves a separate limitation. You can broadcast your WebinarJam event to YouTube; this means you can then embed your YouTube stream into your own website, effectively bridging WebinarJam and any website you own.

Hybrid webinars

Hybrid webinars is essentially a live webinar during which you play pre-recorded segments. It’s mostly used for referencing previous events or automating sections of your event to avoid issues that commonly occur during live broadcasts.

WebinarJam lets you do just that, and it’s a great advantage if you’re an individual entrepreneur, or you need to host webinars on your own. It helps you shave off the stress of doing the entire event live, for starters.

Besides, you can also use these pre-recorded segments to pay more attention to your chat and answer questions there. There’s no way to tell whether it’s a live or a recorded section, either.

Hybrid webinars are great if you want to offer breaks in-between your event, and they can be used for ad breaks while you prepare the next section.

You can also use this feature to replay previous webinars before the main event starts to keep people entertained while they wait. You can offer both single and multiple answer polls as well as questions for both long and short answers. While these are easy to implement during your live webinars, you can’t use them on automated ones. You can even specify the time you want them to display.

Naturally, there’s also a live chat available, and you can keep track of all comments during the live stream.

Zoom Webinars is actually an extension for the main Zoom platform.

Zoom was founded back in 2011, and it’s main focus was to host conferences and team meetings. It’s been widely regarded as a cost-efficient platform for entrepreneurs on a tighter budget, especially with a free basic plan.

The platforms was quick to adapt to the growing demand for webinars. That’s how Zoom Webinars came to be. It’s a separate add-on you can purchase for your paid Zoom account—not the free one—if you want to add webinar-specific features similar to the ones offered by WebinarJam and other competitors.

Among the features you have when hosting webinars with Zoom, let me highlight some of the most important ones.

Live streams

Just like WebinarJam, you can broadcast your webinars on YouTube to take advantage of your followers there. However, Zoom Webinars also supports Facebook Live.

A huge advantage over WebinarJam, however, is its support for custom platforms. You can live stream your webinars on your own WordPress site without much effort, and it’s easily one of the best features offered by Zoom Webinars.


While admittedly more limited, Zoom Webinars also comes with its own set of engagement tools. Your attendees can chat and “raise their hands” to catch your attention, and you’re free to display polls during the events.

The live chat section lets your attendees interact with both the host and other panelists. They can ask questions as well as vote and comment others’ questions. You can also create private chats or group your attendees and panelists. This either limits attendees to their chats or to their fellow group member’s chats.

Polls are quite limited, and you can only use them for your registration page. Therefore, you can’t really choose when to display them, and you can create up to 4 questions to study what your registrants are looking for.

Webinar interaction

Zoom Webinars also lets you schedule breaks during the events. These are great if you want to focus solely on interacting with your attendees.

Naturally, it’s also useful if you need to take care of something outside the event, and attendees can take a break to attend other tasks as well, like lunch breaks.


Zoom Webinars offers a dashboard that lets you manage your entire webinar team, including panelists.

You can schedule your webinar production and use this as the main plan for your webinars. It works by breaking your entire webinar into specific segments, and you’re free to determine each segment’s topic and length. Using this timeline, you can visualize when everything will take place: intros and outros, guest appearances, panelists, breaks, and more.

It’s particularly useful if you want to run an interview since you can specify when the guests will appear and what topic will be discussed.It’s easily the best feature for people who like to be aware of everything.


Zoom Webinars doesn’t have any in-built marketing features like WebinarJam’s live offers. It makes up for it by supporting a fairly large list of integrations with several of the most popular marketing and automation tools available.

You can integrate Zoom Webinars to platforms like Google Calendars, Salesforce, and Hubspot if you want to add more functionality to your events. If you want to host paid webinars, collect leads, or gather more specific information about your attendees, you can find a tool that lets you do it.

Similar features

YouTube streaming

You can stream your webinars on YouTube from both platforms’ dashboards. Neither Zoom nor WebinarJam requires you to draw your YouTube audience away from the platform.

Screen sharing

During the events, both tools let you share your PC screen with your attendees. Your attendees can do the same if they’re being featured in your webinar.


Featuring attendees is available regardless of which one you choose. They can speak and act as another panelist. While WebinarJam has a specialized feature, you can do the same by unmuting attendees in Zoom.


Both solutions have live chat sections for everyone to comment and interact with the host. Likewise, both platforms also have a polls feature, but Zoom’s is limited as you already know.


You can analyze your events’ performance with both platforms. Zoom and WebinarJam alike let you study poll results and viewing time. However, WebinarJam packs more metrics than Zoom Webinars.


Both platforms have their own integrations if you want to add more features to your events. WebinarJam also supports Zapier, which expands the software list.

Control centers

WebinarJam’s control center and Zoom’s administrative dashboard fulfill basically the same function: team management.

Paid events

Both platforms let you host paid webinars if you want to make some money from your events. You can integrate Zoom with PayPal, but WebinarJam supports a few more gateways.



Zoom doesn’t offer the customizable page templates you can find in WebinarJam—and even other competitors. Therefore, branding is a lot more difficult with Zoom Webinars.

Offers and polls

As I mentioned, you can display offers and polls during your webinars. You can set up exactly when you want them to appear, and it lets you sell to—and gather data from—your attendees.

Zoom Webinars only lets you display polls during the registration page, not the webinars. The special offers feature is completely absent.

Custom live streams

Zoom definitely wins when it comes to live streaming your webinars to other platforms. Whereas WebinarJam only lets you broadcast to YouTube—and use it as a bridge for your website—Zoom supports YouTube, Facebook, and custom websites right from its dashboard.

Automated and evergreen events

WebinarJam lets you automate segments of your webinar as well as the entire event. Automated webinars are entirely pre-recorded, and you receive notifications whenever someone makes a question so that you can interact with them and provide a live-like experience.

WebinarJam also integrates with EverWebinar, its sister platform. You can use this to host evergreen webinars from past live events.

Zoom doesn’t let you automate any segment of your webinar—unless you use a workaround, like displaying recorded sections during your live events via screen sharing. Also, while EverWebinar is an additional cost to WebinarJam, Zoom Webinars has no support for evergreen webinars: neither in-built or via integrations.

Downloading app

Finally, Zoom comes with its own app for both mobile devices and desktop PC; WebinarJam doesn’t.

It may seem like an advantage for Zoom, but it’s actually quite the opposite. Both hosts and attendees need to get the Zoom app if they want to host and attend webinars, which can be a turn-off for many people. WebinarJam can be accessed entirely from your web browser, regardless of your device, so it’s more comfortable for attendees to join your webinar.

How much do they cost?

Zoom Webinars

Now, I already mentioned Zoom had a free plan, but that’s for the Zoom platform; it doesn’t support Zoom Webinars. Therefore, I’m going to focus solely on the investment necessary for the Webinars extension.

Its pricing starts out at $40 monthly for 100 attendees and a single host. You can increase the size by paying more, so the price depends on your personal needs. Then, you need a paid Zoom account, which can be a minimum of $14.99 monthly.

Therefore, the most inexpensive offer for Zoom Webinars is $54.99 monthly for a single host and 100 attendees—or nearly $660 per year.


The Basic account is $499 yearly, and you can host as many webinars as you want. Despite being cheaper than Zoom Webinars’ cheapest offer, it supports 5 times as many attendees and 2 hosts. You can host 2-hour webinars, too.

The Professional account costs $699 yearly, and you get 2,000 attendees for 3-hour webinars with up to 4 hosts.

The Enterprise account costs $999 yearly, and you have room for 5,000 attendees and 6 hosts for up to 4 hours. You also unlock the control center.


The only significant advantages from Zoom Webinars is that it supports more platforms, and its version of the control center it’s available from the get-go.

Other than that, WebinarJam is easily the most affordable offer, and the amount of features and room size you get for your money is actually the best I’ve found so far.

Therefore, WebinarJam is my recommendation.
